The AASSP hosts a range of events throughout the year. Business transformation professionals and interested parties are welcome to attend. All upcoming events are communicated to members via the AASSP e-newsletter and posted on the website homepage and Events pages.

Signature AASSP events include:

  • AASSP Practitioner Forum
  • Site visits
  • Monthly virtual MasterClasses & Workshops

Additional networking events are held throughout the year across the region for members and those interested in joining. For details of the next networking event near you check out the Calendar of Events.

To ensure AASSP events remain open sharing environments, all events have a ‘no-sell’ policy unless expressly approved by the Committee in writing and communicated clearly to members as such.

AASSP Practitioner Forum

The annual Practitioner Forum is an opportunity for members working on business transformation projects to share experiences with peers from other organizations.

The full day event is targeted at those leading business improvement projects (e.g. Lean practitioner, six sigma Green or Black Belt) and typically includes a guest speaker, storyboard “speed-dating” and presentations and activities to hone particular transformation skills.

Considered Australia’s pre-eminent peer networking and learning event for practitioners, the AASSP Practitioner forum allows members to learn from each other in a safe and non-threatening setting.

The AASSP Practitioner Forum is closed to service provider members to ensure presentations and experiences can be shared freely in a peer only environment.

Member Site Visits

For leaders of transformation programs the AASSP facilitates workshops and site tours to member companies. Site tours are designed to foster discussion and information sharing in a non-competitive environment.

Previous site tours have included:

  • Nestlé's Butter Menthols, Soothers, Anticol & Quick-Eze factory in Blacktown
  • RailCorp’s command centre in Sydney
  • National Australia Bank’s university in Melbourne
  • The Optus campus in Sydney
  • Hewlett-Packard’s service centre in Sydney
  • Qantas maintenance facility in Melbourne

In addition to the site tour, the agenda for this full-day event usually includes a presentation of the implementation of the host company’s business transformation program, followed by various facilitated discussion sessions on topical matters identified by the group. One of the most popular activities held during the site visit is often the open discussion session, called the “Sounding Board”. At this session members workshop problems and solutions in small groups sharing valuable personal insights that may be of value to other members of their groups.

Virtual MasterClasses and Workshops

It’s not always easy for members to get a day out of the office, so in 2010 the AASSP launched virtual MasterClasses and Workshops. These interactive sessions are facilitated by a AASSP member and participants can dial in and attend from the comfort of their own home or office.

Scheduled throughout the year and led by members, these remote learning opportunities are designed to target specific member sub-groups – for example, newly trained six sigma practitioners that would like to workshop their project charter or practitioners who are dealing with difficult stakeholders.

Members are encouraged to nominate MasterClass and Workshop topics and register to lead a session that they have particular expertise in.

AASSP is an association of organisations and individuals who are leading the practice of Lean Six Sigma in Australasia.
